In General

A search form is always present in the gray bar, relevant to the section you've selected. To search in the Phonebook, click on Phonebook on the navigation bar at the top of your screen.

Click on More Options to narrow your search by location. Once you select a Category, the options on the form will change as they relate to that section.

Don't worry about punctuation.

Capitalization doesn't matter.

Searches will find partial matches, so submit only the minimum of what you think you need to locate what you're after. For example, a search for Leo Burnett will give you results for Leo Burnett USA, Leo Burnett Detroit, Leo Burnett Los Angeles and Leo Burnett Company.

Use "and" rather than an ampersand (&) when "and" is part of your name search.

City names should be spelled out - Los Angeles, not L.A. or LA; New York, not NY. If you search for LA, you will get results for Los Angeles, but you'll also see any other city that starts with "la" like La Jolla, Lakeland or Lawrenceville; NY will also give you Nyack.

Search Results displayed on your screen shows the listing name, city and category. Searches on our site include results for unpublished addresses too, so although there may be no city listed on the results page, the listing matches your search criteria, but the address is not available to view or download.

Sometimes Search Results won't look like a match to your request. Often a search will find the agency or studio where the art director works. You must click on the item to display the detail.

You can use Directory Assistance on the Phonebook navigation bar to get our help to find an artist or company that you are unable to locate, or whose number is no longer working.

Unless you are subscribed as a Phonebook Pro user, you may not download any data or listings. For information on a subscription, see Workbook Pro. To purchase lists, visit our Mailing Lists section.

Searching by Name

Names may be submitted in any number of ways: By first and last name with first name first, or with last name first; or simply by last name or even by first name.

Try variations of a name: James may be Jim or Jimmy. If you're sure of the last name, but not the first, submit just the last name and browse the matches to find the one you were looking for.

Searching by Category/Specialty/Location

Click on the down arrow in the box beneath Select Category to see a complete list of Categories.

Location can be searched by city, state or area code.

Searches for major metropolitan areas such as New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Miami, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland and Minneapolis, among many others, will automatically include results for listings within a 50 mile radius of that city. This allows you to get results for smaller cities in the vicinity of a larger one without repeating your search with each town name.

Searches for many sections may be filtered by keyword specialties (as provided by the company or individual listed). When you choose the category, your options will display the relevant specialty filters. Note that Advertising Agencies do not list specialties.

Our specialty search filter utiliizes "and" logic – in other words, each of the specialties you check on the search form must all be present to find a match. If your results seem too limited, try the search with fewer checked specialty items.
