Last Friday night was the opening reception for the Society of Illustrators (the Uncommissioned and Sequential Show), and though it is always a delight to congregate with so many colleagues and friends, we had additional reason to feel jovial - the wonderful Steven Tabbutt was awarded a Silver Medal for his gorgeous image “Infest”. Congratulations, Steven! This is one of the great honors of our industry, and we couldn’t be prouder.

Shannon Brady’s energetic work stops us in our tracks, thus it’s always encouraging to learn that it resonates with other (less biased!) folks, as well. So it is with great pleasure that we announce that the Association of Educational Publishers has awarded him the Distinguished Achievement Award for Periodical Illustration grades 9-12 for his piece on cyber bullying.

Congratulations, Shannon!

Posted by Workbook on 10/25/2010 — Filed under:  Award WinnersIllustration
The Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards have acknowledged not one, but two Morgan Gaynin artists as gold medal winners this year!

The Moonbeam Children’s Book Awards are dedicated to increasing recognition of exemplary children’s books and their creators.  The Awards cover an impressive thirty-six categories, reflecting the full range of subjects and styles in which children’s books are written and the age groups for whom these books are published.

High fives are in order for Wendy Edelson, who took home the gold in the Best Illustrator category for her work on the heartwarming “Bartholomew’s Gift,” and for Josee Bisaillon, who won the gold in the Multicultural Picture Book category, for her contribution to “Benno and the Night of Broken Glass,” written by Meg Wiviott.

You can take a look at all of the winners here, and congratulations to Wendy and Josee!
